Important Information
Money
Any money that your child brings to school should be sent in a sealed envelope with the following information on the front:
Visiting our Classroom
Upon arriving to volunteer in our room or attending special events, please check in at the front office and obtain a visitor’s pass. This will help to ensure the safety of all children.
Late Arrival or Early Dismissal
If your child arrives late to school, he/she must be signed in at the front office and obtain a tardy slip in order to be admitted to the classroom.
If you want to check your child out of school early, you must sign him/her out at the front office. No child can be dismissed from the classroom without direct notification from the office.
Change of Transportation
If your child is to leave school any way other than their normal mode of transportation, we must have a written note from the parents.
Newsletter
At the beginning of the week, your child will bring home a newsletter explaining what topics we will study, spelling words, important information, reminders, and homework. You may also find each week’s newsletter on my web page.
Web Page
My web page address is:
http://skausite.weebly.com
My web page includes our weekly newsletter, supply list, classroom rules and discipline, great internet sites that pertain to each class subject, and Edmodo. Please have your child visit the site weekly to practice the games/activities. These activities go along with our standards each week and will help your child’s learning of these standards. On the web page, your child will have fun while learning.
Homework Folder
Your child will have a folder referred to as the “Homework Folder” to transport important papers to and from school each day. Please check for important papers and graded work in this folder nightly. Please look through you child’s papers. If you have questions about any of the papers, please let me know. This folder needs to come back daily with his/her homework inside and any other information that you want to send me. I will check his/her folder each morning.
A weekly newsletter will also go home in this folder on Mondays.
Homework Policy
Homework will not exceed one hour. Homework must be turned in by due date to receive full credit. Homework will reinforce standards previously taught. It is graded on effort. If completed, the student will receive 100%. If incomplete, the student will receive 50%.
Student Planner
A student planner will be sent home daily. I use planners as a communication tool. I will write in your child’s planner his/her behavior for the day. If he/she has lost any stars for behavior, I will give a brief description of the incident. If he/she has not lost any stars for the day, I will draw a huge smiley J! At times, I will write or staple reminders in your child’s planner. Please use this planner to communicate with me as well. This is a great place to write messages for me, since I check planners daily. Your child’s planner should be signed nightly. Your child will receive a Skittle/M&M daily for his/her signed planner.
Progress Reports
The school year is divided into four nine-week grading periods. Progress reports will be sent home twice during each nine weeks. The first report will go home 3 weeks into the grading period. The second report will go home 6 weeks into the grading period. The reports should be signed and returned to school the next day.

Our classroom rules are listed on our classroom webpage. If you need a hard copy of these, please let me know and I will send it home.
